The Grateful Hero’s Journal was created specifically for first responders, active military members, veterans, and the families who stand beside them. It combines guided reflection with practical grounding, breathing, and sensory exercises that can be used during moments of stress, overwhelm, tension, or disconnection.

Each daily entry includes:

• A morning gratitude check in
• Something to look forward to
• People, places, or things that feel safe
• A nightly reflection
• A simple nervous system reset

The journal also includes more than 35 grounding, breathing, and tension release practices. You do not need to be experienced with journaling or fill every line. Write a page, write a few words, or simply try one reset tool and notice how you feel.

Why Badge & Burden recommends it:

We reviewed this journal before adding it to Badge & Burden, and what stood out was how practical and approachable it feels.

This is not just a blank journal asking you to write about your feelings. Each entry gives you a simple structure for the morning and evening, along with a nervous system reset tool you can try in only a few moments.

You do not have to consider yourself someone who journals. You can write a full page, write a few words, or simply, just try one of the tools. Small practices can feel almost too simple to matter, but they can become meaningful when we stay open and use them consistently.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

Grateful for Heroes was founded by Cat, a certified EMT with more than 16 years of connection to the first responder community. She is also the granddaughter and niece of two World War II veterans, one of whom was a prisoner of war.

After seeing how service can continue affecting life off duty, and experiencing anxiety, burnout, panic attacks, and PTSD herself, Cat began studying nervous system regulation and neuroplasticity. She started Grateful for Heroes to provide practical tools, encouragement, and support for heroes and their families.

Best for:

• First responders
• Active military members
• Veterans
• Spouses and family members
• Anyone looking for a guided gratitude and grounding practice

This journal is intended for reflection and general wellness support. It does not replace medical care, therapy, or support from a licensed mental health professional.
